About Us

Welcome to Bumples - the interactive E-magazine.

Publisher, Jennifer Sheehan created Miss Bumples and the other Bumple characters over 30 years ago. A Bumple was what she named an animal character craft kit inside a lumpy, bumpy crepe paper ball. Early on a story was developed about Miss Bumples, Jennifer's earliest character – who arrived on earth from Mars to help animals. That Miss Bumples happens to be blue, has yellow hair and can fly is just part of the fun.

Jennifer's four children's books, written and illustrated by the author each contain more information about the growing Bumple's family: “Miss Bumples Lands on Earth,” “Miss Bumples Moves to Bumpleville,” “Griffy Giraffe’s Accident” and “Chicky Dicky’s Pancakes.” And now children can anticipate new stories about many of the Bumpleville characters within the pages of the E-magazine verison of Bumples.

In researching children’s magazines Jennifer realized that a niche existed for an internet children's magazine which would be interactive as well as fun to read. A year of intense design, programming, feedback, writing and illustration ensued. Finally the first Bumples, and the first ever interactive E-Magazine was launched in the Fall of 2009. Those assembled to create Bumples, as its editors, have interacted with children in many roles as parents, coaches, educators, authors and illustrators. Their combined creativity makes Bumples remarkably unique in its visual design as well as its interactive format.

Bumples is for young readers and also for children having difficulties with words and reading. Bumples can help. A child quickly becomes involved when a story is interactive and is related to a game and supplemented with information about the story topic we call the Bumplepedia of Fun Facts. Consequently, our goal is to create a safe web environment where children can let their imaginations soar, learn to enjoy reading and have a wonderful experience in the process.

Bumples is also a work in progress as we develop new ideas and listen to valuable feedback and ideas from our subscribers. Authors from all over the world have supplied many wonderful stories which find their way into the pages of the magazine as we grow. Our programming skills are developing to match our stories as we experiment with new interactive activities. And the technology itself is evolving broadening the platforms where Bumples can be enjoyed.
